Rose Lazzaro is a self-taught artist whose early art career was fueled when she landed her first job for a graphic arts company. Fresh out of school, inexperienced and young, Rose was given an opportunity to learn the graphics trade and gain invaluable experience. She learned quickly and eventually decided to venture out and open her own graphics arts studio, which she operated from home. Soon business was flourishing and her husband Cesare joined her in this new venture. The company did well for many years but Rose’s yearning to get back into painting and drawing ultimately caused her to re-evaluate her goals. After receiving a mural request from a friend and realizing how much she loved it, Rose knew this was definitely the direction she wanted to pursue. She decided to advertise her services at paint stores and numerous directories to attract more customers. It wasn’t long before Rose was receiving a good steady flow of mural requests.
In time Rose and her husband Cesare decided to take various seminars and courses in faux finishing to expand their mural business. Soon they were running a full service decorative arts studio that included everything from paint contracting to high-end murals.
Often times Rose enjoys the challenge of incorporating painted finishes and textures to surrounding walls to coincide with her murals to re-create period styles, or, through suggested influences, allude to them. Her love of the Renaissance and Old World themes is a popular focus in many of her paintings. At the same time she loves the challenge of new and fresh ideas to inspire the mind and keep her creativity flowing.
Rose’s expertise is not only limited to murals. She is also proficient in marbling and wood graining and has taught courses in the past for Faux Depot in Toronto. Her work has adorned the walls of stately estate homes, restaurants and corporate clients and has been featured in various publications throughout Toronto. She has had the privilege of working with well-known designers, building contractors and architects throughout Toronto and the GTA area and is considered one of the best in her field. She now resides in Woodbridge, Ontario with husband Cesare and their three children, Daniela, Michael and Juliana .
