Born in Massachusetts, Sandra Kiss London is a self-taught artist and entrepreneur with an innate passion for the arts and beautiful textures. She has developed a reputation as a leading innovator, designer and educator for the decorative painting industry.
Sandra received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Massachusetts in 1990. She spent the following year in Europe, immersing herself in art and culture. Upon her return, Sandra worked for the prestigious Los Angeles advertising agency, Ogilvy & Mather. There she came across a newspaper ad offering classes in faux finishing…the rest is history.
Sandra entered the world of decorative painting, dedicating several years to studying the art. She is best known for her patterns, marbleizing, wood graining and subtle approach to textures. She has professionally faux finished more than 400 homes and has worked with leading designers on both East and West coasts. Her work and practical approach to business has been featured in several publications, including the cover of Design Times Magazine for her spectacular marble work. She has also made several television appearances, on NECN’s New England Dream Home, The Style Network and most recently Comcast’s American Builder.
In 1997 Sandra and her husband Mark founded Faux Like a Pro, one of the nation’s leading manufacturers of high-quality faux finishing products for professional decorative painters and consumers. Sandra’s specially formulated finishes and user-friendly instructions guarantee professional results.
In 2002 Sandra founded the Massachusetts Institute of Surface Design, which graduates over 300 students from across the country each year. The institute’s Certified Applicator Program provides extensive training for all interested in decorative painting and is a resource for interior designers, architects, and contractors who continually turn to Faux Like a Pro to meet their needs.
Sandra continues to increase her knowledge of textures by submersing herself in the design world and by finding inspiration through her travels abroad. She also spends a lot of her time exploring the fashion, fabric and furniture design trends, creating original finishes with her own innovative artistic style.
She now lives in Boston, MA with her husband Mark and their dog Chessie.
