Stacey Olson Sachs is the founder of Murals to Life, and a professional medical and biological illustrator. With a passion for art from a very early age, Stacey discovered her talent and found her calling in high school after taking her first drawing class. This discovery, along with a love of science, led her down the path to medical illustration. At the University of Michigan, Stacey earned both her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Drawing and Design, and her Master of Fine Arts degree in Medical and Biological Illustration. Stacey's award winning work has been published in numerous medical and scientific textbooks and journals over the past 17 years. She is a board certified medical illustrator and has been a professional member of the Association of Medical Illustrators since 1990.
In 2001 Stacey began applying her skills to a much larger canvas...residential and commercial walls! In 2003 one of Stacey's murals, "Justin's Jungle," and the story behind its creation, were featured in The Washington Post Home section. This article was picked up and widely circulated by the Associated Press, and thus began Stacey's new career as a muralist. At the end of 2006 her artistic venture evolved once again when, after several weeks in the hospital following complications from her sonıs back surgery, and with the memories of her own 2005 battle with breast cancer still fresh in her mind, a longing grew to brighten the atmosphere of hospitals and other public spaces for children and their families. Stacey has since created 2 murals for the Georgetown University Hospital in Washington D.C., with proposals for 2 more just accepted, as well as an upcoming project for the Urbana Regional Libraryıs Childrenıs Program Room in Urbana, Maryland.
Stacey often finds inspiration from her many travels and scuba dives with her husband Adam. Together they live in Brookeville, Maryland with their 3 sons, Justin, Jonah and Aidan.
