Kathy Wear was raised in Omaha, NE. She fell in love with painting after attending art classes at the Joslyn Art Museum while in elementary school. After attending the University of Nebraska at Omaha she went into residential and commercial property management, working in both Denver and Boston. After moving to Sweden Kathy decided to stay home and raise her 3 children. When her youngest child started school she decided to start looking for part time work. In 2002 she hired a designer to help her with the remodel in her own home. The designer saw some faux work she had done and asked if she would be interested in doing some faux work in a Parade of Homes she was working on. After seeing samples she was hired to do finished in seven rooms in the home and won her first award fro Best Faux Finish from the Middle Tennessee Builders Association. Her company, Artistic Finishes, was then created and has been operating full time ever since.
Kathy is the owner/artist of Artistic Finishes in Hendersonville , Tennessee. She has studied extensively over the years to perfect her craft, and is known amongst her peers for her innovative and original designs. Artistic Finishes specializes in custom wall finishes and hand trowelled plasters as well as murals. We take enormous pride in our work and strive to create finishes that are unique to your home and lifestyle.
Kathy has trained at several different schools including Decorative Finishes Studio in Louisville, KY, under Master Artisans Martin Alan Hirsh and Krista Vind. Her work in the Nashville area Parade of Homes has won her five awards from the Home Builders Association of Middle Tennessee including Best Faux Finish and Peoples Choice Award for Faux Finishing. Her work has also been published in many local magazines including Sumner Lifesytles, Nashville Lifestyles At Home and House and Home of Nashville. Her work can currently be seen on Southern Homes and Lifestyles TV.
Kathy will begin instructing courses this fall at Faux Assured Studio located in the beautiful mountainous region of Utah. . Kathy is currently designing the curriculum for a complete second level RS Class combining the line with products from the FE gold and silver labels.
